| St. Augustine Press is an independent publishing company started by Mary Jane Hayes, which focuses on editing, design, publication, printing service, and distribution, and marketing services for new authors, and is in the process of developing a staff which will help first time author’s get independently published. A goal for more than a decade, Mary Jane Hayes has been in the process of developing a publishing company to produce entertaining and educational material for children but she also wants to support programs like Project MORE (Making Opportunities in Research Education). Project MORE works with libraries in an after school program so children can learn to research and learn beyond the normal classroom setting. For example, author Mary Jane Hayes, wrote Emma’s House of Sound, about a young deaf child who teaches her classmates how she is able to “hear.” Mary Jane will work in the library with children who have an interest in the subject of deaf children. Through interaction with authors children may then be motivated to research interesting subjects on their own. Mary Jane Hayes wants to do more than just write stories for children. She wants children to become inspired to grow and to learn.
