Mary Jane says,”I think of life as a jelly donut. You don’t
know what to expect until the first bite and then jelly spills
all over my blouse. This is how I see life. Learn from your
mistakes and then create ways in which to deal with it. The
first bite helps me to discover the way in which to eat my
next donut; either eat it differently or find a way to deal
    with the mess."

When Mary Jane took a break from teaching she became
a Social Worker for the Department of Mental Heath in
Huntington, Long Island. She received a Project’s Bill
Award for implementing a program to socialize the special
needs children for family care placement. Project Bill’s,
Bettering Independent Living and Learning Skills, was a
process for involving the physically handicapped, deaf
children, and mentally handicapped giving them the
    independence they needed.

She loves to write and took writing more seriously in the
past fifteen years. She always loved to draw pictures
which became the ideas for her next story. As an art
teacher from elementary level to college level she was the
recipient of an honorable mention art award in Smithtown,
New York and in 1987 at Dowling College Visual Arts
Center she was awarded the Alumni Art Award.

Mary Jane is on the Board of Directors for the Long Island
Writers Guild. She is always involved with the Board and
now is trying to implement after school programs for
children in the libraries. She is also a member of the
Professional Writers of St. Augustine, FWA, and the
Society of Children Book Writers and Illustrators.

Mary Jane enjoys art and crafts and likes to play the
piano.  She is relaxed when trying to learn to play golf.
Writing has become her passion. Every night she loves to
cook and enjoys company once in awhile because most of
the time she likes to eat her meals with the ‘computer and
story’ as her eating companions. A good meal with a good
    wine and warm conversation.

Life affects her writing by encouraging it to open her mind.
And writing affects her life by strengthening it.
